FINAL CALL FOR LINKWOOD PARK PAVER AND BENCH DONATIONS Linkwood Park renovation plans forge forward with some minor revisions following Hurricane Harvey. Friends of Linkwood Park recently met with Houston Parks Board, Houston Parks and Recreation Department, and District K to confirm revised detention plans for Linkwood Park improvements. Additional underground detention plans will now meet drainage requirements not only for phase one of the project, but for the entire master plan. First phase renovation plans include new toddler playground, big kid playground, swings area, revised walking path, columned entry, and open multipurpose field. Should budget allow, first alternate is adding an extended front porch, porch furniture/game tables, and sound wall around air conditioning units. Second alternate is adding a toddler playground shade structure. Bidding is underway, with plans for an early 2018 groundbreaking. ALL PAVER AND BENCH ORDERS MUST BE RECEIVED BY NOVEMBER 22! Order your park paver or park bench today to commemorate your support and show your commitment to the community. Use your custom message to honor a loved one, give recognition to your business or organization, or simply provide encouragement to those who visit Linkwood Park. Visit www.houstonparksboard.org/projects/linkwood_park to place your order before November 22! Thank you to all those who have donated. Dear Neighbors,
Your Linkwood Civic Club Board recently held an emergency meeting to discuss security patrol in Linkwood. Neighborhood watch is proven to be one of the best forms of crime prevention, and Linkwood has always been diligent in this form of home protection. 120 of the 146 homes in Linkwood flooded, and most will be unoccupied for some time. Due to this sudden void of our neighborhood watch, the board voted to increase the number of Seal patrol hours by 50%, an additional 20 hours per week. This increase will apply to Linkwood alone. Night and weekend hours will be added, in addition to our current shared weekday patrol with Woodside and Westridge. The cost for this patrol increase is approximately $10,000 for the remainder of the year. This additional cost was not included in our 2017 Linkwood Civic Club budget. The $10,000 will be taken from the civic club reserve account. The board, with members representing both flooded and non-flooded homes, was unanimous in its decision. The Civic Club reserve funds were established for events such as legal and emergency needs. If you are able, the Civic Club encourages each household to assist in replenishing the $10,0000 we will use in reserve funds for this emergency need. You may contribute any amount by the following means: By Check: Payable to LINKWOOD CIVIC CLUB "Security" in memo line c/o Jenna Arnold 3811 Linkwood Drive Houston, TX 77025 By Debit Card: If you would like to donate towards security costs via debit card, visit https://cash.me/$linkwoodcivicclub and enter the amount that will be deposited directly to the Linkwood Civic Club's account.
